How we write up a deal

What goes in, what stays out, and why nothing is published here yet.

Why this category is empty

Deals is for trips that happened, written up honestly. Nothing is published here because nothing has happened yet.

The tempting move is to write one anyway — an itinerary that reads well, a price that sounds right, a few days that never took place. It is also the one move that makes everything else on this site worth less. A write-up nobody lived is an advertisement wearing a diary, and a reader can feel the difference long before they can point at it.

So the category ships empty and says so. It fills the first time somebody actually goes.

What goes in

Real numbers, and only numbers we hold ourselves. What it cost, what it included, what it did not. If a figure came from a third-party listing rather than from the source, it does not get printed — brokers lag and brokers round in their own favour.

What went wrong goes in as well. A stay with nothing to complain about is either a very short stay or a very careful edit, and the second one is obvious.

The parts that can be repeated go in, because that is the only part of a trip that is any use to somebody reading about it afterwards.

What stays out

Location precision stops at the city. For the OVRS residence that means İskele, Northern Cyprus, and nothing sharper — no street, no building letter, no apartment number, no coordinates. A coordinate pair pins a home as precisely as an address does; it just arrives in a different format.

Names stay out. No concierge name, no staff name, no photograph captioned as a real customer. Every piece signs OVRS Editorial, because a collective does not need a personality to hide behind.

What the residence actually offers is public and stays public: 110 m², one bedroom, sleeps two, a 360° rooftop terrace with a seating area, wifi and cleaning included. Detail is not the thing being withheld. Identity is.

The disclosure

OVRS earns a commission on bookings made through the collective. That is written here rather than in a footnote, because a recommendation you profit from is a different kind of recommendation and the reader is entitled to weigh it.

It does not change what gets written up. It changes only whether you have to guess about it.

A write-up nobody lived is an advertisement wearing a diary.
